The Birth of a Leadership Development Consulting Firm

Our Story

Drs. Cedric and Widza Bryant are the founders of Bryant And Bryant Institute (BBI): A Center for Democratizing Leadership Development. Their vision roused while completing their doctorate studies in strategic leadership and realized the strong correlation between underperformance—in organizations, community-based groups, and governmental agencies and ineffective leadership.

Having experienced firsthand the impact of ineffectual leadership while growing up in societies where leadership development is only prevalent amongst the elite few, Cedric and Widza conclude that if formal leadership development opportunities could reach the billions of people who are underserved, their greater potentials can be unlocked to create a more thriving and sustainable community.

The two believed that by enhancing the leadership capacity of people, organizations, and communities; society would have the opportunity to develop a systemic and lasting change.

Out of their beliefs and experiences, the two moved to create Bryant And Bryant Institute, to make leadership development accessible to all people regardless of socioeconomic status. Anchored on the beliefs that democratizing leadership development has the propensity to imparts capacity building, BBI’s goal is to scale and make it affordable and accessible to all levels of society.

The concept places the power of development and transformation in the very hands of the people themselves; setting them on a path to create a better life at the expense of their own hands rather than through the means of “traditional aids.”

Meet Our Team

Dr. Widza Bryant PHR, President & Co-Founder

Dr. Widza has extensive experience in creating and implementing global human resource processes and organizational development nationally and globally. Her expertise includes organizational design & development, global training process development, global HR development process, executive coaching, change management, employee relations, global recruiting and staffing – all firmly anchored in the business-case analysis.

Dr. Widza Bryant has a unique combination of knowledge and experience covering a broad range of Human Resources leadership and organizational development principles. Guided by a passion to transform individuals and organization, Dr. Bryant, along with her husband, Emerg. Doctor, Cedric Bryant, founded the Bryant And Bryant Institute aims to Democratize Leadership Development. 

Dr. Bryant led the human resources department for Oxfam GB in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and the Caribbean Region, following the 2010 earthquake. In her role, she partnered with government officials, local and expatriate leaders to strategize and implement the country’s emergency response initiatives.

She is also the co-founder of the Vladimir Bryant Foundation.


Dr. Cedric Bryant, MBA Executive Vice President & Co-Founder

Dr. Cedric Bryant is a global leadership & organizational consultant and co-founder of Bryant And Bryant Institute: A Center for Democratizing Leadership Development. He has consulted with leaders and teams in various industries including education, religious, political, and community mental health organizations.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bryant has worked with leaders nationally as well as internationally; ranging from new professionals to experienced executives. His consultation and leadership engagements include topics such as leadership and followership relationship/development, leadership communications, leadership and culture agility, leadership and emotional intelligence, and workplace dynamics.

His overall philosophy on effective leader and team development centers on the transformational leadership concept, a concept concerned with changing and transforming people for the collective betterment of individual and organization.

The BBI Board

Dr. Rutendo Mudzamiri

Founder of SparkLead Center for Leadership and Public Service

Dr. Mudzamiri currently serves as a Leadership Consultant and Coach for various organizations leaders. She has served as a Visiting Scholar in Santa Clara, CA. under Dr. Barry Posner. Additionally, she has offered lectures for visiting students at Duke University.

Dr. Ru pioneered a women’s leadership development program, which has provided leadership and mentorship platforms for more than 400-young women in various settings. She is the owner and founder of Girlotherapy, a global initiative that pushes wholeness for women in leadership.

With more than 14 years of experience in leadership practice and mentoring, Dr. Ru is the owner of SparkLead Global, a leadership institute with offices in the USA and Zimbabwe. Through her work with SparkLead, Dr. Ru has delivered classes as a summer school lecturer at Duke University, provided coaching and consulting services to local nonprofits in the Raleigh Durham area in North Carolina.

John Sullivan

Founder and President, The Because Project

John Sullivan is currently serving as the President of The Because Project, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides shelter, education, healthcare, and nutrition to people in need by working through local organizations worldwide.

He is also currently employed as a Project Executive for Hillmann Consulting, LLC, providing construction financial and technical risk analysis to banks and equity participants in large scale construction projects.

John holds a BS degree in education from The College of New Jersey, and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has served on a variety of technical and advisory boards throughout his career.

Alfred J. Riles

Consultant/HR Business Partner

Al is a Corporate Human Resources Business Partner at BrightView Landscape Company in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania where he oversees the HR function. He has extensive experience in creating and implementing global Human Resource processes.

His expertise includes Leadership Training, Organizational Development, Change Management, Employee Relations, and Global Recruiting and Staffing – all firmly anchored in business-case analysis.

His industry experience includes key HR & Organizational Design positions at the Johnson & Johnson family of companies and Worldwide Vice President, Human Resources, Johnson & Johnson-Merck.

In addition, Al was Principal Consultant at Tunnell Consulting, a Biotech and Pharmaceutical Consultancy, where he consulted and published on topics of Training and Quality Culture.

Dr. Alicia Granholm

Founder of Granholm Consulting

Dr. Alicia Granholm is a leadership consultant based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. She specializes in leadership development and organizational culture change. For nearly two decades, she has trained, equipped, and empowered over a thousand leaders to maximize their leadership potential.

Dr. Alicia compassionately crosses cultural boundaries having lived, studied, traveled, and served in 25 countries on six continents. For more than 10 years, she served as a pastor in churches in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area. She has also held advisory and leadership roles in both state government and non-profit organizations.

Dr. Alicia holds a doctorate degree in Strategic Leadership at the School of Business & Leadership, Regent University with a concentration in Global Consulting (Virginia Beach, VA) and has her Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN) and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN).

Hadson Kargbo

Public Health Consultant

Hadson Kargbo is in the final year of his Ph.D. program at Swansea University in the UK. His area of study is in international relations and development. Hadson also holds a master’s degree in public health from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. He is currently serving as a Linkage to Care Coordinator for the HIV and HEP C program at Southeast Health Services.

Mr. Kargbo’s expertise includes the development of humanitarian programs that address social and economic issues linked to poverty reduction and sustainable development in post-disaster areas, managing humanitarian crises in conflict zones, emergency humanitarian outreach in disaster zones, and developing programs that ensure preputial and lasting peace in conflict zones.

Leemue Koimene

Account Manager

Leemue Koimene is an account manager at BrightView Landscapes in Central New Jersey. In this role, Leemue serves as the primary contact for BrightView’s clients by building and sustaining relationships, focusing on both client retention and ancillary sales, and providing oversight for field operations.

Prior to joining BrightView, Mr. Koimene spent six as Program Supervisor at The Wood Services in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and three years as Operations and Human Resources Manager at Immaculate Home HealthCare.

Mr. Koimene has extensive experience in the field of leadership and management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from the Philadelphia Biblical University and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Cairn University.
